SANC Mini Group Lessons: Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Advanced/Upper-Intemediate Japanese Course

Pre-Intermediate Japanese

Pre-Intermediate A: "Daijobu Discussions" Unit 1 - Unit 6 (12 hours × 3 courses)

- To build up small discussions step by step on familiar topics.

- To develop how to express one's opinions intelligibly through discussions.

- To enhance reading skills as well as speaking skills through reading a lot of short stories.

Textbook: "Nihongo Daijobu Discussions Book1" (designed for optimum language learning by Sun Academy)

Pre-Intermediate B: "Daijobu Discussions" Unit 7 - Unit 12 (12 hours × 3 courses)

- To build up discussions step by step on topics of Japanese culture, history and society.

- To develop how to narrate and describe one's opinions through discussions.

- To enhance reading skills as well as speaking skills through reading various texts of wide range of topics written in different styles.

Textbook: "Nihongo Daijobu Discussions Book2" (designed for optimum language learning by Sun Academy)

At the end of Pre-Intermediate, learners acquire an JLPT N4/ CEFR A2~B1 level.

Early Morning Class 8:00-9:00 or 8:00-9:30
Morning Class 10:00-11:30
Afternoon Class 14:00-15:30 or 16:00-17:30
Evening Class 18:30-20:00 or 19:00-20:00
Saturday Class 10:00-12:00 or 14:00-16:00

- A new term generally starts in the first week of each month. It is also possible to join a class in the middle of the course if its level is suitable.

- The Mini Group Lessons are held at SANC classrooms or online.

- The class size is between 2 to 3 students. Sun Academy reserves the right to cancel any class that does not reach the minimum enrollment.

Intermediate Japanese

*Learners can choose Course A or B depending on one's interests. A and B are the same level.

Intermediate A: Japan Now learning with news (12 hours × 6 courses)

- To cultivate a better understanding of what goes on in Japan and how Japanese think through reading and listening to the latest news.

- To find and strengthen one's weak points in grammar using the latest Japanese news.

- To develop the skill to report the latest news with a focus on the key points.

- To gain the skill to express one's opinion in the convincing way by explaining reasoning and backgrounds.

Materials: Japanese news, newspapers, etc. / Supplementary Materials: 『どんどん使える!日本語文型トレーニング中級』(凡人社), etc.

Intermediate B: Japan then and now learning with movies (12 hours × 6 courses)

- To cultivate a better understanding of how Japanese think and what historical/cultural backgrounds there are through watching well known movies.

- To find an strengthen one's weak points of grammar using Japanese with movies.

- To develop the skill to correctly comprehend conversations at natural speed through movies.

- To gain the skill to make natural conversations by fully getting into and acting out characters in movies.

Materials: Japanese movies / Supplementary Materials: 『どんどん使える!日本語文型トレーニング中級』(凡人社), etc.

Classes for Specific Objectives (Business Japanese, JLPT Prep, etc.) are available as needed in this level.

Advanced / Upper-Intermediate Japanese

- To cultivate one's sensibility to the Japanese language while enjoying various materials such as TV, newspapers, web news and columns, essays, novels, and etc.

- To acquire advanced grammar and expressions as well as understanding high-level and complex Japanese, and make discussion using them.

- To gain the effective way to express/explain your opinions in the natural, smooth and logical manners through discussions.

Materials: Newspapers, news, novels, etc. / Supplementary Materials:『日本語表現文型500』(アルク), etc.

Classes for Specific Objectives (Business Japanese, JLPT Prep, etc.) are available as needed in this level.
